Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon-Review

EDF! EDF! Here’s the thing about Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, It’s on a fine line between greatness and mediocrity.

On the plus side, It’s a blast to play multiplayer whether it be in the six person  survival mode or the three person campaign. Class types are varied nicely and fun to play around with and weapons are plentiful. You have a selection between a jet(flying), battle(heavy armor), trooper(normal), or tactical(mines, turrets) class and each have their positives and negatives. The game plays out like an arcade shooter where anyone can jump in at anytime or leave and the story in told through chatter during a level. buildings are completely destructive with one rocket usually needed to take down a skyscraper for completely outrageous damage fun. Enemies are plentiful and big, and higher difficulties are truly difficult if you’re not leveling up correctly.

As for the bad, or in this case, the annoying. Leveling up is a grind. I can’t express this enough especially with four different classes to use. The story is almost non existent with zero cut scenes until the very end which then is an abrupt end. Weapons are a hit or miss, either really good or really bad (I’m looking at you Jet class pea shooter). The class types have no customization other than color choice and choosing your weapons load out. I haven’t played by myself yet but I imagine it’s not nearly as fun as with friends and can get boring fast. The game has few objectives but the main one is kill all the bugs in the level and that’s about it. Graphics are by no means on a Gears of war or Uncharted level, but they are better than most, especially the detail of the class type’s armor.

So here’s how I’m going to rate this game. If you have a friend or two then I highly recommend this title for your group to play. Also with a selling price of $40 dollars you really are getting more than a lot of $60 dollar titles offer. However, if you don’t have someone to play with then this could get boring fast and you may want to pass it up or at least wait for a lower price in the future. All in all I love it for what it is and if you want to play then hit me up!

Flame Red 3DS announced for September 9th.

That’s right, my predictions came true.

Nintendo will be releasing a Flame Red 3DS come this September 9th to coincide with the release of StarFox 3D. The price will be the new $170 recent price drop and will be a boost in sales for Nintendo I’m sure. Who’s gonna pick up this sexy beast?
