Score one for the Consumer

It’s a great day when consumers win. I’m please to say that Nintendo announced a price cut of the 3DS from $249.99 to $169.99 in the U.S. effective August 12, 2011.  Japan will see a price cut from 25,000 yen to 15,000 yen on August 11. Australians will see a cut from AU$349.95 down to AU$250 on August 12. Pricing for Europe has not been announced.

I think this proves that we as buyers can get our way. No triple A games and an obviously high price point will push people away. Also those who already purchased it will get 20 free games on the eshop. Pretty awesome deal right?

Now if we could only do this with Capcoms multiply release of the same game we would be great.

Oh and I’m also still waiting for that Mario red 3DS bundle for Christmas. I feel it coming.

  1. You forgot to mention the 20 free games that people who bought the 3DS prior to the price drop get. Thank god I don’t have to buy Mario Kart now since the GBA one will more then likely be the same thing 😉
